ARTWORKS > Contemporary Rituals

This piece is based on a photo of “Tribute to Prince” street event in Harlem, NY, earlier this year. A big crowd of people gathered to add their mark to large portraits of Prince that were spread on the ground. Self-expression via street art is spreading quickly in our cities. It’s an important trend that says a lot about the way we choose to express ourselves and interact with others or just have fun. These happenings are evolving into contemporary rituals that are central to our culture. The current painting states this phenomenon while giving it an existential edge.
